Good day everyone! 🙂
Today something for herbal tea lovers. I hope I will encourage some to try as well.
Dandelion is very popular weed in many gardens and it troubles many farmers. Many of us use weedkillers to get rid of dandelion. Not so many think about healthy benefits of this plant. It is known for its healing properties from the Roman times. You might think, really? Why our doctors do not prescribe this as a prevention for many diseases? I think our science pay to much attention to create synthetic medication, rather than proving potential benefits from using natural products. My concern came when my partner has been diagnosed with high blood pressure. It was linked to high cholesterol level. He has been prescribed with tablets to lower pressure, but to lower cholesterol he has been advised to change a diet and loose weight with more activity. I started to research which natural products will help him to lower cholesterol. Dandelion has got my attention! Here are some healthy benefits this weed can bring for your general health and it has been published in Food and Chemical Toxicology (2019) and Molecular Biology Report (2019).
Providing Antioxidants. Dandelion contains beta-carotene and is full of polyphenols which are great in fighting free radicals and protect our bodies from progression of certain diseases.
Lowering Cholesterol. Dandelion root contains bioactive compounds which can help in lowering bad cholesterol. Some of the phytochemicals discovered in dandelion act as anticoagulants.
Diabetes. Dandelion root is believed to have anti-diabetic properties due to soluble fibre known as inulin.
Detox. Dandelion can be used as a tonic to clean liver.
Blood pressure. Dandelion is also called “water pill”, as it holds diuretic properties. It helps to treat high blood pleasure, heart failure, liver disease and some kidney diseases.
You can use flower and root. I use roots and make tea. It is a bitter taste, but I add a teaspoon of honey

2x tablespoon, 0.5l hot boiled water. Leave for 20min. Drink one cup in the evening, one cup before breakfast and enjoy your health 🙂
